on target than the romney campaign. he needs to put obama on the defensive and needs to remake his image. i think he needs a long strategy through all the debates. i'm not sure he can do all he needs to do in one debate. >> it's so great to have both of you here. come back. thank you. >>> lockheed martin and other defense contractors agreed to a white house request not to give lay-off notices to employees days before the election in november. those companies are anticipating thousands of lay-offs because of defense budget cuts and they are required to give workers 60 days notice. it's highly unlikely any budget cuts will be decided on before the election. the administration argues that pink slips should not go out because of "uncertainty." republicans are expressing outrage saying the administration strong armed the industry to cover up job losses. creamy spinach artichoke dip, crispy garlic chicken spring rolls. they're this season's must-have accessory. lean cuisine. be culinary chic. constipated? yeah. mm. some laxatives like dulcolax can cause cramps. but phillips' caplets don't. they h

issues, attacking the president on sequestration, the looming defense budget cuts effectively linking defense and national security to the economy which has been his primary message. the campaign has been flooding reporters with numbers and he mentioned them today, suggesting that sequestration cuts would effectively have an impact on 168,000 jobs, costing 168,000 jobs in the state. he said 136,000, 68,000 among small businesses specifically. and he was here with people in this critical battleground who he said have been to battle before. these are people in the military community, a lot of veterans here at american legion hall where he was speaking that he hopes will support his message of american strength through strength and not through weakness militarily. >> i have been a little puzzled by the campaign's posture on this because it was a republican and democratic agreement, the automatic triggers for these automatic cuts from sequestration if they didn't agree to a budget deal, and they didn't agree to a budget deal so this was something that the president and john boehner agreed

in defense cuts that his running mate paul ryan voted for, he implied that would hurt suicide prevention programs for veterans even though the v.a. would be exempt from that, so i'm not sure he even understood what it was he was talking about. but at least he tried. at least veterans got a mention from him. even if it didn't make sense in policy terms. you do know that defense and veterans are two different -- at some point it should be possible with 40 days left to say veterans have to be more than just an applause line. right? you don't just get to use them for a photo op like the decommissioned battleship you used as a backdrop when you introduced paul ryan inexplicably in front of a battleship, another time when you didn't mention the war. even if you're not willing to talk about the war we are in that you would be taking over, veterans are not a hypothetical construct. the way they're treated is not an esoteric consequence of how we feel about them as a nation or how much military spending we have which is how mitt romney described it today. 40 days out from the election with the is

in and not look scared or defensive. he has to be cool and calm and confident and own the space. that is the most important thing for him. if he looks skiddish. those optics will be the most devastating thing for him. you would think would be about the pressure would be on the incumbent to defend the last four years in office. but in this debate, it is clear that 100% is on how does mitt romney handle the 47% question? >> i agree with crystal to put in other terms the undecided voters are sitting with their back toward the stage. the voice and he has to be strong and have an answer. the problem he has is which every way he turns he loses a piece of the argument. ro romney is going to lose a piece where he turns. one that he has used before, is to say look, i care about the 100%. look at what i did in massachusetts with romney care. if he give that is answer, he loses the strength of the argument. but i think he has no choice. i think he has to say that like the president, when the president in 2008 was overheard at a fundraiser talking about people clinging to funs and religion that people shorth

eisenhower named to defense secretary, said what's good for gm is good for america, and vice versa, he was ridiculed because most people understood that what is good for the big corporation in terms of profits is not necessarily good for workers, even though at that time gm was unionized and engine charlie's words more likely the fact then than they are right now. the fact is for the last 30 years america has seen corporations do better and better and better and yet the median wage has gone absolutely nowhere, adjusted for inflation. most people are more insecure in terms of their jobs and their benefits are drying up. corporate profits should not necessarily come at the expense of workers but, in fact, that is exactly what has happened and the bain framework, the bain strategy is at the center of this strategy overall. >> harvest is a very interesting word that he used. it's kind of like lingo, not a few years ago, you know, the term "out of the box." i remember back in the '80s when farming wasn't too bad and a certain player harvested so many numbers or we're going to go in and harv

defense keeps it close and then he finds a way to work his magic near the end. you have to give that a try. that's not why they brought him in. i think they're going to stick with sanchez stubbornly longer than they should. >> this is why lou holtz is so right, when you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks. the thing is the quarterback's going to have a bad game. you've got to stick with that quarterback, ride the quarterback through the season. and then trade him at the end of the season. you know, sanchez, i don't know if it's good or bad, but every time he threw a pass, he was looking over at tebow. and it distracts you. >> i don't think that's what he was looking at. >> they've got 12 more games. if they ride him out through 12 more games, they could be in trouble. >> they could be in a position to get geno smith or matt barkley. >> they just trade him. >> so let's talk about the saints/packers. packers get jobbed on "monday night football," almost get jobbed again yesterday at home against the saints. >> it was going to be a riot. darren sproles fumbled the ball. the ball w
